Numerical Simulation of a Cable-Stayed Bridge Subjected to Ship Collision

Long-span cable-stayed bridges are subjected to the risk of collision from passing ships. Conducting experimental study on and vessels is difficult due high cost limited space. In this paper, behavior a 1[Formula: see text]018-m long-span bridge ship collisions numerically studied. Finite element models entire ships established. Four different dead weight tonnages (DWT), namely, 2[Formula: text]700, 12[Formula: text]000, 30[Formula: 75[Formula: text]000[Formula: text]t, with impact velocities text]m/s 6[Formula: investigated. The complete process under loading scenarios simulated, which force, responses local damage obtained. calculated force significantly affected by velocity DWT, exhibits linear relationship velocity. Comparison design codes shows that vary in estimating Eurocode provides most accurate results. effect material model also This numerical reference for bridges.
